12 Weeks Preggo!

My baby is now a fetus at week 12 is supposed to be about 2.1 inches long and .49 ounces and from what I have read from THE BUMP while she's doing that, she's also developing her reflexes -- if I poke my belly, the baby'll likely move, and she's opening and closing her fingers and curling her toes.
Size of the baby: Our baby's the size of a plum!

My Old Man's 60th Birthday

Yesterday was a busy day for me. We have a Family Day in school (yes, I know it's a Sunday affair) and I am busy preparing for my daddy's 60th birthday. I want this 60th birthday to be special since he was hospitalized and has been put in ICU last December and I wanna make sure he will be at the company of the people that matters to him.
My father was never extravagant. He hates all things that spell out extravagance (he still uses an old Nokia phone up to now) and loves simplicity even with way he dresses. Mom prepared the food for his birthday: Menudo, mom's special BBQ, Spaghetti, Fruit Salad, Chicken Sotanghon and Ice Cream while I brought in my share: Yang Chow fried rice, Lumpiang Shanghai, Chinese Chicken, Pata Tim, Chicken Feet (dad's favorite) and Pancit canton. My cousin Jen and her husband Ver, brought the cake.
It was a very simple yet meaningful birthday for my dad. His brothers all came together during lunch with his nephews and nieces and during the early dinner, my titas, uncles and cousins from my mother's side arrived.Family friends soon joined during the late evening. Daddy shed a tear (he became really emotional right after his mild stroke in December) and we know those are nothing but tears of joy.
To my old man, my daddy, my protector, my confidante...soon to be lolo...HAPPY 60th Birthday!
We love you!
(Ill be posting the pictures soon!)

Twins? Seriously?

Happy New Year!
I think the year of the snake ahs a lot ins tore for us and here is one for starters...
I had my second transvaginal ultrasound today and my OB thought she saw two embryos which could probably mean I have multiple pregnancy. OMG! Seriously? I am already overwhelmed knowing I am now growing another human inside, more so if there were two...My transv was intended for us to hear the heartbeat of the baby and we were glad we did...164bpm but the OB also told us there is a 90% possibility of twin pregnancy so we need to comeback on January 16 to confirm...

Second Sonogram result at 7 weeks, 3 days.

Singleton It Is!

During our last check-up, my OB had me undergo a transvaginal ultrasound and immediately after starting the procedure asked me if we have twins in the family. I said there was none in our family but there was in Eds's, in fact his grandmother has a twin sister. It skipped two generations already, so I dread that we might have twins. My OB said that she believes she sees what is seemingly two embryos and even had each one isolated to hear the heartbeat. The prominent one has 164bpm, while the other has a much slower heartbeat at 196bpm. She told me us that she would require another transvaginal ultrasound after two weeks to confirm if it is indeed a twin pregnancy.
Sonogram at 10 weeks and 6 Days...SINGLETON!
Luckily, after having my third transvaginal ultrasound, we found out that it is just a single gestation which means there is only one fetus. While I love the sight of twins, I know how physically demanding it would be and since we waited three years for this pregnancy, I think we will be able to enjoy and give our full attention if there is only one baby around in the meantime. My next visit will be on February 16 and I am just as glad that the next ultrasound will no longer be transvaginal (which I really, really hate by the way).

Thank You San Pedro Calungsod

I remembered wanting to make my way to the altar of San Isidro Parish where Eds and I would attend Sunday masses and Wednesday novenas to touch the replica image of San Pedro Calungsod which was flown from the Vatican. I immediately walked my way passed other paishoners and headed straight to the image which was right infront of the altar. While others were waiting to kiss the parish priest's hands, I rushed to the image, said a brief prayer asking for a baby for Eds and I  and asking for his intercession for the recovery of my father who was just released from the hospital after a mild stroke before holding his hands and rubbing it on my belly. Who would have known that two weeks after my encounter with San Pedro Calungsod, all of my prayers will be answered.
Sharing this prayer to our beloved San Pedro Calungsod...

Prayer to Blessed Pedro Calungsod
Blessed Pedro Calungsod,
student, catechist, young migrant,
missionary, faithful friend, martyr,
you inspire us
by your fidelity in times of adversity;
by your courage in teaching the faith
in the midst of hostility;
and by your love in shedding your blood
for the sake of the Gospel.
Make our troubles your own
(here mention your request)
and intercede for us
before the throne of Mercy and Grace
so that,
as we experience the help of heaven,
we may be encouraged to live
and proclaim the Gospel here on earth.
Amen.

100 % Positive

Eds accompanied me today to Casa Medica to have a pregnancy test. I appreciate the loving support of Eds who just arrived from work this morning but still was able to accompany me. There was a long line at Casa Medica but I was glad to know that there was no line in the laboratory. I had a vial of blood extracted and I was asked to fill a cup of urine. Normally, this would be a tedious task but since my bladder makes me feel like urinating most of the time, this was  way too easy now.
We were asked to comeback after an hour so Eds and I decided to eat lunch first..Our first meal as a family? A Shakey's Family Deal...haha.
After an hour of waiting, I was really nervous as I entered the laboratory and when I was handed the results, it was clearly positive.

Two Lines=Positive

I have been bugging Eds to buy a home pregnancy kit for a week now but he insists that I am probably just imagining things since we both know how erratic my periods are. Weeks before, I frequented Divisoria and noticed that I really find it tiring now more than ever. I also insisted to my mom that we eat in Lydia's lechon the last time I went to Divisoria with her. Aside from my period gone missing for two weeks now, I also noticed how tired I am upon arriving home that I literally can't lift myself out if the bed.
With much prodding, I succeeded and finally had Eds buy a home pregnancy test. I tested in the evening and yes, there were two lines. I immediately told Eds about the results and he smiled and winked. I felt happy seeing the reaction on his face but fear, anxiety and a whole lot of different emotions started to flood my mind. Is this accurate? Is this test reliable? After all I have been through a lot of suspected pregnancies in our first three years of marriage. I told Eds everything going on inside my head and he told me that if I want, I can have a second test in the morning where HCG levels are supposed to be more concentrated.

3 AM, December 13
I woke up early and went to grab the home pregnancy test before marching to the comfort room...after only 5 seconds, two lines appeared again. POSITIVE.

I think my mind was more stable this morning that it was the last night. I uttered a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord that finally, or heart's most ardent desire has been answered. Are we telling other people yet? No, not until we are really 100% sure that I am pregnant. For now, it's our sweet little secret to keep...
