Still No Rest for The Wicked...

I’m foreseeing a week minus internet starting tomorrow. I have been glued to my bed in front of my laptop lately and it has been bad for my back, and my health. Even the best diet pill will never work for me if I don’t get moving.

To-do list:
1. Prepare for client's wedding on July 4 at Sonya's Garden.

2. Make syllabus.

3. Make lason este lesson plan for the week.

4. Make new excel rating sheet...

5. Pay for V-Gems and Fotobrew (for the Thank You magnets na super late na namin ibibigay as thank you card..hehe..)

From The Knot to The Nest

We are on the look for bedroom inspiration and it helped that I have an account with The Knot. I saw these two design inspiration which we know would be perfect for our bedroom...

All In A Day...

I was off from work. I had on and off fever, headache and colds and was advised by our school nurse not to report to school so I can have my rest and be observed. It was nothing serious though. I drank two glasses of Calamansi juice and drank Alive capsules and felt ok now.
The prenup blow up pics (framed) was delivered already along with the labeled CD and highres copy of pictures for viewing. We submitted or selection for the album as well so most probably its just a matter of few weeks and we will be seeing the album and the blow up pic for the portrait.

Loving Suds

I was looking for dry cleaners...yup I haven't had my gown cleaned (bummer huh?). I asked Ms. Mia for suggestions and she advised me to either hand wash the gowns or look dry cleaners who make use of really gentle chemicals. I was in luck when I found Suds. I love their services and tomorrow, Im bringing my gowns for the much awaited dry cleaning. I called their branch this afternoon and was delighted to hear a very friendly staff on the other line. I was told that they charge Php 1,000.00 for a wedding gown (inclusive of the veil, petticoat and three bearer pillows).Lead time is isually 7-10 days.
Now isn't that a treat!

DIY Gown Preservation

Your wedding gown was only worn once and you loved it the day your picked it out and purchased it. So, once it has been worn, what do you do with it?
If you haven't recovered yet from the expenses incurred during the wedding, then these DIY gown preservation method may work for you.
Step 1
1. Bring you gown to a professional dry cleaner.
2. Purchase a box of space saver bags at your local home store.( You can buy one from Japan Home @ Php88.00 each)
2. Step 2
After purchasing your space saver bags, open the large one with the zipper provided at the top of the plastic space bag. Gently, insert your precious wedding gown, veils, pillows and pouch.
3. Step 3
Once your wedding gown and veil are zipped up inside the space saver vacuum bag, take off the top of the black hole where the vacuum will be placed on. Now, turn on your vacuum and let the suctioning begin.
4. Step 4
When it looks like all the air has been suctioned out of your space saver bag, remove the vacuum from the hole and replace with the black top to keep the air out.
Put it on a box with acetate cover for a more professional look.

Sides of Intimacy

All-encompassing

There's something about our psychological, spiritual, and physical makeup that cries out for intimacy with another. That's because God designed marriage to be the most intimate of all human relationships, in which we share life intellectually, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Are you and your spouse intimate in these ways?

Intellectual intimacy. This isn't about discussing highly intellectual ideas. The important thing is discussing your thoughts. They may be thoughts about food, finances, health, crime, work, politics. They reveal something of what's gone on in your mind throughout the day.

Social intimacy. This has to do with spending time around the events of life. Some of these events we experience together; others happen while we're apart and are shared through open communication. Much of life involves doing. When we do things together, we not only develop a sense of teamwork, we also enhance our sense of intimacy.

Emotional intimacy. Feelings are our spontaneous, emotional responses to what we encounter through the five senses. I see the fire truck racing down the road and I feel troubled. You touch my hand and I feel loved. When we share emotions, we build emotional intimacy.

Spiritual intimacy. Often the least excavated of all the foundations of marital intimacy, yet this has a significant impact on the others. It doesn't require agreement of belief on every detail. Instead, we seek to tell each other what's going on in our inner self. It's discussing our thoughts about spiritual realities. The purpose isn't agreement, but understanding.

Physical intimacy. Because men and women are different (long live their differences!), we often come at sexual intimacy in different ways. The husband's emphasis is often on the physical aspects—the seeing, touching, and climax are the focus of his attention. The wife, though, comes to sexual intimacy with more interest in the relationship. To feel loved, appreciated, and treated tenderly brings her great joy. Sexual intimacy requires understanding and responding to these differences.

My Life's Extra Challenge...

I recently joined the team of Special Events by the Planner (of Beth and Lovey). They were looking for another partnerand I thought this was a good opportunity to to spend my extra time and also a good training ground for me in case I do decide to put up my own wedding coordination team in a few years.
During my initial talk with Lovey, she warned me that wedding coordination is not a glamorous occupation. That is indeed TRUE! It is a very tedious job and a person must be passionate in doing this.
Below are some of the downside of wedding coordination:

1. You will barely sit down!
2. No wedding is perfect but should be caused by any one of the team, or we will surely hear it from Beth.
3. Early call time super late pack ups.
4. Multiple meetings in a day!
5. Late lunch or dinners.
6. Time away from family-this is the iggest obstacle for me being a newlywed.
Here are some of those I consider as the best parts of being a wedding coordinator:

1. The Perks!!! You get a lot of souvenirs -extra guest favors, the minicakes or the photobooth souvenir shots.
2. Meeting and working with the best of the best in the wedding industry.
3. I'll always be grateful to our wedding suppliers who made our wedding a dream come true. And to be able to give that same feeling to another couple is already a reward.
4. The warm appreciation and praises from the family members of the couple.
5. Going to venues I haven't been before- Oasis, Splendido, Palms etc.
6. Becoming a witness of love-the couple's exchange of personal vows, their tribute to parents, the dances between parents and children. These are priceless moments of love you don't see evryday and its a blessing to witness them.
Currently, Im a rookie wife working as a private high school teacher (full time) and the new challenge for me is time management ever since I ventured into this business.
So if you're deciding to become a wedding coordinator yourself, think again. If you're up to the challenge and are passionate enough to do it, then by all means suportahan taka!

Singer Michael Jackson Died at 50

Whew...this was indeed a sad news. Im from the 80's who have enjoyed Thriller and Billy Jean to my heart's delight...too bad the industry lost another of its icons...
Paramedics were called to the singer's Beverly Hills home at about midday on Thursday after he stopped breathing. He was pronounced dead two hours later at the UCLA medical centre. Jackson's brother, Jermaine, said he was believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.

Making AdSense

AdSense is an advertisement application run by Google. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image, and more recently, video advertisements on their websites. These advertisements are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis.

At dahil nga sabi nila na kapag kinakasal nagiging business minded ang mag-asawa (dahil kaya naubos ang ipon nila sa kasal?...hhmmm...hehe)...after we ventured into events planning (Special Events By The Planner..plug ko lang), I decided to make sense of my blog by signing in with AdSense...
...so there...lets my sense of our blog!

The Wedding Bubble...

Looking back....
...I'm still inside...don't you ever pop my wedding bubble...

Buddha Boys

I was surfng channels when I passed by Discovery channel and their feature documentary-Buddha Boys! Yup this is Shaolin Soccer in real life…I enjoyed watching it- it was like a therapy after a day’s work (though retail therapy is still the best!). It was kinda odd seeing these monks playing world cup fever but hey, change is always welcome.
But some people are not happy about the commercialized form. But those at the heart of its culture -do not view it that way. Nor do its far-flung adherents.
In China, where Shaolin soccer originated and evolved, it is perceived as providing a release from a painful, poverty-ridden existence or, more simply, as a means to gainful employment. It is a popular alternative to universities. The Shaolin path also leads to work as bodyguards, policemen, and trainers. If an adept practitioner is really lucky and personable, he might land film and TV roles.

First Try With Picture Books

When we went to ATC a couple of weeks ago, I saw this kiosk of PicturesBooks and surprisingly, they now have tons of creative layouts (unlike the boring ones before!) Immediately, when we got home, I visited their wedsite to download their software whereby you can do the layout on your own (yes, at home) and send it via the net for printing. How's that for innovation!

First Day @ Work

Taking breakfast before the event!

I WAS SCARED! I had my first hands on experience in wedding coordination last Saturday at sland Cove. It sent a rush of nostalgia as it brought back memories of my own wedding. I was assigned to assist the bride and enjoyed it a lot as I myself used to be one. I went through all the details to make sure that I can be of great help to my very first couple, She and Dons.

SURVIVING IT ALL

It was a lovely wedding, one that was attended by close friends and families. The wedding ceremony started on time (of course, kami pa!) and so as with the reception. With the 160 expected guests, only 141 showed up so there were tons of food left that the family decided to give us the same food as that of our guests...and the mom even gave us a tip at the end of the day.

Retiring to the arms of Eds...and a sumptous buffet breakfast!

AT THE END OF THE DAY....As for me, well good enough that we recieved a gift cheque from Ms. Sharon of Island Cove.Eds and I stayed there for a well-deserved rest and afterall, its our first monthsary on Tuesday. We were given a further Php2,000.00 GC at the fishing village which we hope to share with my mom and lola who just recently recovered from flu...

FIRST DAY IN SCHOOL Yeah right, back to school but hey, it was a pleasant one...I am quite familar already with mu Juniors class as most of them were my students last year when

Dreamer or Doer?

You Are a Doer

You are primarily concerned with what is actual. You tend to be a practical person.

You love to stay busy, and you are always immersed in projects.

You are in touch with your senses, and you enjoy indulging them. You're likely a crafter of some sort.

You crave different sensations in life, whether it's working with your hands, playing sports, or eating your favorite meal.

ONE SHOT...

I got an early injection today-anti FLU or something. I got my first shot last year and this is actually my second shot, and I think it works for me as I didn't have any colds or flu incident last year (knock...baka mausog!)

All the Things Left Undone...

Naku!...I am yet to post my supplier's score card (aka ratings) and wedding kwentos and yet to blog about our honeymoon in HK...what have I been doing?...well business po and since the school year will be opening on the 15th, as a teacher, I am preparing my classroom and my lason...ay lesson plan pala...!

LIFE AS AN EVENTS PLANNER...

I always liked intervening into the lives of other people and the best thing is that I am now making this a living. I am enjoying every minute of it actually, had several meetings already, had attended a bridal fair and on Saturday, will have my first wedding at Island Cove-katuwa!
Yesterday, we had a client meeting at Robinson's Pioneer and I enjoyed it because the soon-to-be bride is a fellow W@Wie...yey!
Anyway, their wedding is set on January 8, 2010 and they booked us for OTD package already.

Taking a PERSONALITY TEST!

Your Brain is 73% Female, 27% Male

Your brain leans female
You think with your heart, not your head
Sweet and considerate, you are a giver
But you're tough enough not to let anyone take advantage of you!

Whew, after the Marriage Contract thingy, we finally got our CTC (Certified True Copy) of our marriage contract yesterday (totoo na i2!,wala ng kawala!). We were really worried when during our honeymoon we received the news that the municipal registry office rejected our marriage contract because we signed with a blue ink and that we have to ask our PS to sign the new form again....grrr...Well, finally after that gruelling TAKE 2, all is well! We were told that the NSO copy will be available after 6 months (tagal!) but then again this CTC is better than having none as I need to update my SSS, PAg-ibig, BIR, PhilHealth and other bank records ASAP!

First Intrega ni Hubby, First Grocery atbp.

INTREGA How could I forget about about this?! I was just so happy when Eds handed me his sweldo...kakatuwa knowing not all men would do this though its a common practice in our culture. And since no work, no pay kami for the last week of May, I wasn't able to contribute much to our monthly savings but I promised that this 15th of June (snce back to normal na ang pay ko), I'll be keeping some for the savings fund.
SIGN OF SUPPORT Eds bought me an O2 Xda Atom and though the unit was in mint condition, I really don't mind since its what I badly need now that I am into events planning already. In return, I bought him a Penshoppe Polo and an Extreme Couture (UFC) which I know he really likes.
KL on OCTOBER & NOVEMBER Since Eds and I have been working so hard (and immediately right after honeymoon), I thought of planning a vacation for us (gift ko din kay Eds for his birthday) from October 31-November 2.
A WHOLE LOTTA FOOD Though sanay na kami ni Eds na mag-grocery for our respective families, its still different pala pag mag-asawa na...ang cute! ehehe...Natawa lang ako sa laman ng grocery cart namin kasi almost lahat pagkain, konti lang yung toiletries and other stuff...

Planning Our First Month Anniv!

How ironic would it be if Im not going to plan our first month anniversary and be able to aptly plan other events...di pwede yun!
Siyempre I have all the plans inside my head...
Originally, I want it by the 13th to the 14th of June but when I looked at the calendar-oh no, we have a wedding to organize on the 13th (at Island Cove...hehe memories na naman!) and 2 client meetings on the 14th! So looks like its really gonna be on the 20th-21st...
Its gonna be a weekend of ultimate getaway from our work!
Plan #1 R&R
I am planning to make reservations at this stylish bed&breakfast situated very near Picnic Grove, called “T House“ (T happens to stand for Tranquility )...
Plan #2 To the Godess Hestia
Again another bed&breakfast in Tagaytay famous for their lush gardens and Hungarian sausages, the place is known to be as Chateau Hestia...
Plan # 3 To the secret GARDEN
Sonya's Garden that is...famous for their laid back bed&breakfast and their uber lovely garden!

Details...Intrigues and Work In Between

Details I made an early call to Paul Haute Couture to follow up on the fitting schedule of one of our clients whose wedding is on the 13th already. She should have her gown by this time but the sad thing there is there had been some delays. Oh well when I talk to the assistant, I was told to have our client visit their shop this pm. One task down and done!
Intrigues I dont know how to react to this comment made by His Eminence Cardinal Rosales. It would probably be just another article for me if I was just a newlywed but having chosen to venture into the field of Events Planning made this article a bit uneasy for me to read...here it goes

"While underscoring the sacredness of the sacrament of matrimony, a high-ranking prelate also expressed alarm on some wedding ceremonies becoming a “special event production,” thus robbing the rite of its solemnity.

Manila Archbishop Gaudencio B. Cardinal Rosales said he has been alarmed with the growing number of entrepreneurs now known as “event organizers” and “wedding planners” involved in the smallest details of weddings who sometimes turn the solemn rite into a “show” or “presentation.”

The Cardinal made the observation in an interview over Veritas Radio Monday morning.

He noted that couples now focus their attention to the minutest details of the preparations, invitations, the program and the songs to be sung during the reception instead of the meaning of the Sacrament of Matrimony.

“May kabanalan ang sakramento ng kasal at ang kabanalan ng kasal ay kung minsa’y nawawala sapagkat ang atensyon ng ikakasal ay naaagaw ng producer o planner at ‘di na nauunawaan ang ipinapayo ng pari,” the cardinal explained.

While worried that the sacrament of marriage is being robbed of its solemnity and spirituality, he said he is also concerned of the expenses such a big production will entail on the couple.
“Ang iba, sa oras na marinig ang gastos, sa halip na magpakasal sa simbahan ay sa huwes na nagpapakasal,” he added.
These wedding planners are considerably paid to attend to almost all the details involved in the ceremony turning a sacred rite into a presentation or show, the cardinal said.

Pre-Cana conference

Reminiscing on his early years as a young pastor, Rosales said one thing he misses these days is the chance to talk to young couples engaged to be married through the Pre-Cana Conference.During these conferences couples have the opportunity to discuss honestly with each other one’s strengths and areas of growth, the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, family life, communication, finances, sexuality and one’s role in society and in the Church.
He said he finds it enjoyable talking to engaged couples as he “gains their friendship and in fulfillment of my duties as pastor.”
The prelate said these conferences are important to the engaged couple for them to realize their responsibilities in the eyes of society and the Church. (Melo M. Acuna)

...so there...

Work in Between I am juggling my time between being a rookie (but loving!) wife, a teacher and an events planner. And its not that easy and let me just put my thoughts in here about the above amentioned comment by his Eminence. Couples believe in the sanctity of marriage that;s why we want them to be flawless and that is why we hire event planners. We want to be able to be worry free so we can savor the moment and all its sacredness without minding the chaos around. The church should be confident enough to know that couples know the new realm they are getting into-that with or without event planners, the sanctity and the sacredness of a wedding is not with all the theatrical commotion but with the unspoken vows of two hearts in love.

That being said, I am now signing off...see you tomorrow!

Another First...

Last weekend, I had my first bridal fair as wedding coordinator and how I loved it..(may client pa na nagbigay ng Red Ribbon choco mousse sa sobrang tuwa yata sakin...) and last night, I had my first client meeting along with Lovey. It brought back memories when I was still making preps for my own wedding...tears...neweiz everything went well. Took down notes for follow ups, suggested some ideas, info here and there...and oh the client gave us loot bags-literally-M&M's, Pringles, Mrs.field's and VS!

Jun 1, 2009

Busy Day Tomorrow

Things to Do:
>cook and have breakfast with Eds
>think of design for classroom decor (additional lang ok..yung pang core values corner)
>6:30 meeting with Lovey and client at SM Bacoor...
>follow up on other clients who made inquiries last bridal fair.
>choose photos for wedding album...

I am now a N@Wie

I remember when I was still in the midst of our wedding preps and found myself at lost until I found a home in W@W with my w@wies sisses. It was fun, I met a lot of cyber-sisters as we are the ones who can uderstand each other's raves and rants on wedding preps. But some good things never last and sad as it may sound, since the wedding is now done, I have to leave the group and join yet another-for newlyweds...from a proud W@Wie bride to a blooming N@Wie wife!

Kitchen Share...Tuna Sandwich

(from KitchenJournal)

Tuna sandwich could be very ordinary but a little effort on to make the tuna filling is worth every bite.
Ingredients:
6 loaves of sandwich (toasted)
2 tomatoes (thinly sliced)
Lettuce
Tuna filling:
1 can tuna chunks
1 red pepper/capsicum (finely chopped)
1 white onion (finely chopped)
½ cucumber (finely chopped)
2 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
½ lemon (use the juice only)
Pepper
Procedure:
Drain the tuna and use a fork to crush the chucks roughly. Add finely chopped red pepper, onion and cucumber. Then squeeze the juice of ½ lemon (This refreshes the flavor of the tuna and removes the fishy smell). Add enough mayonnaise and mix with the tuna mixture. Season with freshly ground pepper.

Assemble the sandwich.

Back to Work...

Whew...Im finally (talaga lang) back to work.
Im back to being a mentor alongside being a new wife and a new business venturer...
Today is my first reporting day to school, glad that I decided not to put off my classroom decorations last school year and have my room repainted instead-voila! Instant classroom.
When I reached school and saw our faculty-whew, tons of kalat! As in!
NO WORK NO PAY. Our school follows the No work, No Pay Policy and since I had been gone for two weeks (when I was in HK and the other when I was fixing our MC), supposedly by today, I will go home empty handed-la sweldo.Good thing the school gave me some consideration.
I am hoping to finish my suppliers rating soon.
