August-birthday month q...nothing much...just a simple get together with h2b and my family.

The Year That Was 2008 (1st half)...

As the year commences, let me go through 2008 and share with you how the year went for me...
January-all high hopes for 2008
February-a traumatic month for me and for h2b..he had a road accident and the family of the guy involved literally took advantage of the situation and even harassed h2b...
March-I can’t remember much but this was quite a busy month for me; it was the end of the school year, we had several forms to accomplish for DEPED not to mention the bad mouth of that soldier’s wife.
-my first trip to Puerto Galera together with the WC family.

Some pix from P.Galera travel

April- we had an outing together with my previous Burgundy batch and so with my h2b. Graduation of h2b's bother (highschool) and sister (gradeschool) that's why his parents came home. We aslo had several night outs with his family, here are some pics...

May- this month was the happiest and most memorable month because he made his proposal—May 2 to be exactly. It was mother’s day when he told my parents about our plans.More gala for me...here are some pics again...

Funicular Ride

Braving the cable car...

June- opening f classes; usually the busiest month for a teacher like me. We also started booking our major suppliers for the wedding- Island Cove, St. Michael the Archangel.

Our Mock Up Invites

The ento card (the one at the back w/ yellow border) still has some revisions on the design and contains no text yet.

The main invite design by Printed Matter
Theme: Bountiful Summer Harvest
Concept: By the Bride

We went to Printed Matter Concept store at Serendra this evening and we were able to see the design conceptualized by Sir kerwin on our Bountiful Summer Harvest Themed Invites. Main card pa lang yung may wordings kc concept stage pa lang tlga kami pero natuwa ako sa design...sa ento cad may konting add on na lang sa details na idadagdag (kc plain page lang with yellow boarder and sunflower so sabi ko lagyan din ng wheat grass pero wash out effect na lang para maximized yung space at malagyan ng text yung ento card) so hopefully like what he promised yung complete mock up ready na next week since I already told him abt. the revisions sa ento card....Sana walang aberya i2! The pics are posted already under Our photo Albums link, sa wedding accessories folder of our wedsite.

A New Song that I Heart...

I heard this song and I love it to death...simple, yet sweet and it has a good feel to it...a duet between Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat...here's a snippet

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been Lucky to be coming home again Ohhhohhhohhhohhohhohhhohh They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you, I promise you I will

New Accomplishments

The New Face of Martha Stewart Weddings

Eversince the wedding bug stung me, I have always loved Martha Stewart, especially her wedding department. Now, they have a new face and they did lots of improvements.

My Super Biased Predictions

What's quite predictable when New Year comes is the fact that a lot of Psychics are guesting in daily shows sharing theirs predictions and what not. So, here I am juping in to thir wagon, here's my share of my predictions for the year 2009...
POLITICS, ECONOMY etc.
-since 2010 is coming soon, expect that a lot of issues against the current President, a lot of whisttle-blowers, scandals, etc...
-ambush...tons of ambush
-I see a lot of nuissance candidates and traditional politicians
-the recession issue will still hunt the economy
-fare hikes, oil hikes
-natural and man-made calamities (as if Filipinos don't like morbidity!)
-buntisan and hiwalayan issues in showbiz (honestly, any one can draft their predictions, Filipinos are way too predictable!)
On My Personal Life
-my wedding preps will be tedious (kelan ba naing hindi!) but rewardin at the same time
-a very broke Aby & Eds (pre-wedding)
I see a 5lbs. drop off my weight (as if its not a must)
-I see a 140+ names on my guest list
-I see my mom trying to invite some more of her co-teachers
-I see a lot of pre/post-wedding famiy introductions
-a wonderful weather for us on the 16th of May
-a dramatic entrance for me (with doors slowly opening)
-a very dramatic wedding ceremony (c/o my always emotional relatives)
-a very successful reception party
-a very shy Eds during the first dance!
-multiple rice cookers, iron and other appliances
-numerous cash gifts (haha!)
-an exciting getaway for Eds and me!
-a peaceful and blissful married life
Forgive me for being biased...hey its my prediction! But more over than being a prediction, I fervently hope that God will indeed shower Eds and me with marital bliss and happiness and good health for us and those we love.

And it was also because of her that we never had any difficulty of filling our request for confimation certificates. She just asked me to text her the date when we had our confirmation and our whole names and after 3 days our certificates with "FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES" is ready for pick-up.Each certificate just cost us Php40.00. Some Rants...

Just wanna share what happened to us this weekend. Well, medyo toxic kmi sa parish secretary ng church na pagkakasalan namin. Before pa,lagi niyang pinapansin na sobrang aga naman daw namin mgpareserve and evenduring our pre cana, paulit ulit cyang nagrereact. So we would just tell herthat busy kc kme pareho sa work and we want to secure the date as early aspossible. After that, July palang nagpa approve na kme ng misalette, peronagpaka toxic na nman sya at ayun, nawala lang naman niya yung pinasa namin.Good thing kilala namin ang parish priest at pinahiram kme ng misal guide.
After quite some time na toxic free kme, she texted me last Saturdaysaying na kung pwede daw imove ang date ng reservation namin. Eh kaya nga reservation yun di ba? At kaya nga kahit sinasabi nyangmaaga pa eh nagpareserve na kmi is for us to avoid such instatnces, taposganito? Sabi ko sa kanya, you shoudn't have entertained that other couple sinceyou know june pa lang reserve na kme and the answer that she gave me was becausekakilala daw niya yun at nag-aask lang ng favor. Buti na lang, in the end Iwon.Yun nga lang napaaga sched namin, instead of 3pm naging 2:30 pm angceremony. I dont know for what reason pro at least, amin pa din ang date nayun....
Hay...hirap no...bakit kaya may mga taong ganito?

Counting My Blessings...

We had our Christmas party last friday, both with my students and later in the evening with the admin and faculty members of the school where I'm teaching.I was completely overwhemed by the tremendous amount of gifts that I received from students, to colleagues and friends...Who ever said that our economy is under crisis...well while there's probably some truth to that, maybe its just the sheer generosity of Filipinos that endures even the tiughest economic recession.

Thank you for all those who sent their greetings and gifts,Let's all enjoy the holidays.

Next: Baptismal & Confirmation Certificates

We are now working on securing our baptismal and confirmation certificates. Between the two, we would probably be having extra effort to secure our respective baptismal certificates since I was baptized in Sta. Mesa (Sacred Heart Parish) and Edu in Quezon City (Sto. Domingo Church) which were both miles away from our respective residences now. With our confirmation certificates, we were both confirmed in Scared Heart of Jesus and Mary which is a few minutes away from our area.

One day...I just cooked!

My brother is at the hospital and has been there for 3 days now; he’s been under observation for typhoid fever. It’s just me and our angel (our term of endearment for our housemaid) who gets to stay at the house since mom is looking after my brother and dad is busy with his North Luzon Expressway project. Ever since, cooking has always been my hobby I would frequently stood by my grandma’s side every time she would cook and I think that I got my talent from her. Since I’m sick and tired of eating our angel’s lechon kawali and adobo, this time I decided to cook our dinner (haven’t done that for a long time). I decided to cook a vegetable meal-Ampalaya Sauteed with Egg. Here’s my recipe….

Sauteed Ampalaya with Egg

Ingredients:
2 tbsp. cooking oil 2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 medium onion, minced
1 medium tomato, minced
1 cup of thinly sliced pork (you can use your lechon kawali at the fridge)
1 cup shrimp (deveined)1/2 cup water 1 medium ampalaya, sliced thinly 1 egg, beaten
Cooking Procedure:

1. Heat oil and saute garlic, onions, tomatoes and pork slices.
2. Pour in water. Stir in ampalaya and simmer around 4 min.
3. Stir in beaten egg and cook another 2 min.
4. Season with fish sauce, sugar and/or any ginisa mix.5. Serve hot with fried danggit or any fried fish!

For Frugal Brides

For frugal soon to be brides like me wjo are looking for their DIY project materials, wrapping papers, gift tags, and boxes, go to Golden Era at M.de Santos St. or to Overseas Paper Supply on Juan Luna St., which offer a wide array of designs. Wholesale price is given if you buy a minimum of 25 pieces for gift wrappers, 50 pieces for small boxes and 25 pieces for large boxes.

The mecca for ribbons, cords, twine, Christmas trimmings and crystals is on Tabora St. Morning Glory is a must for those who love to make their own gift packaging. Though the place is air-conditioned, it can get quite hot and cramped. It is best to come early so you can have time and space to choose what you want. The building across Morning Glory is the telahan or clothing district. All kinds of textile can be found here. Upholstery, beddings, sinamay, jute cloth, jusi, dress materials, wedding gowns, and costumes are half the price compared to department stores.
Some DV tips:

Credit cards are unheard of in Divisoria, so make sure to carry cash and beware of pickpockets. Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes. It can get pretty muddy when it rains. There are fast food restaurants and restrooms in the malls, but make sure to bring tissue and hand sanitizers or alcogel (there may not be water in the restroom). There are stalls on the street, some of which have nice items, just make sure to haggle because they are priced slightly higher than those in the malls.

Our DIY Kissing Bells

Sharing our DIY wedding kissing bells.Materials bought from Morning Glory in Divisoria (along Ilaya).
Ribbons- Php 120.00/2 packs;Bells- Php5.00/pc;Holder- Php 3.00/pc;Glue Stick-Php 3.00/pc;Glue Gun- Php 80.00;Gold String- Php 12.00/yard

Finally...

After getting engaged I suddenly realized that I was completely out of my element. I did not have a clue about how to pull off a budget friendly wedding let alone what the vision of our wedding should look like. I quickly discovered hundreds of amazing wedding blogs (like EAD), photographers, and other online resources all full of amazing wedding details and inspirations.
I must have looked at a million photos, but I finally found the vision for our wedding in a beautiful wedding invitation...Whew, finally!

5 months to go!

Today, I was updating ourwedsite when I noticed the wedding ticker...5 months to go! So officially we are goin' to have our countdown before the big day....still had so many things to do... well, more of like to furnish... (sana...hehehe)and the pics in our wedsite and here in my blog are raw pics from the pre-nup (I'm so excited kasi!)
Kudos to Blessings Photography and to Mr.Romy Villaluna, our photographer during the pre nup. He was easy to work with and very patient as FH2B is the shy type, so imagine the motivation needed!
Hmmmm... basically, the reason why i started blogging is just to make an online journal regarding about the wedding... to have my personal diary n din of everything... my moods, my thoughts... I never thought I would be this hooked into blogging!

The Blabber!

Yes, I am back to online blabbing.
We must expect a super busy week for us all. But although we had hectic runs here and there, I hope everything will go well and as planned.
Come Thursday, we will go to Divisoria to buy some stuffs for the wedding, gifts for my numerous godchildren, and meet up with my friends. I hope everything will be perfect! I'm planning to scout for kissing bells and other DIY stuffs for the wedding preps. I also want to buy some cuty Korean shoes for malling!

Meatball Sandwhich and Cheesy Plus Ham Omelet

Another Accomplishment: Teddy Bears for Tin Can Buckets

Another wedding update:

What Teaching Has Taught Me

What makes a good teacher? Many people, even students attending a teacher training college, think that being a teacher is an easy task.

Perhaps it is the subliminal desire to be a teacher. Or maybe it is that I never had the opportunity to actually stand in front of a room and instruct. Whatever the reason, I see myself falling into the leadership role of teacher and mentor. I enjoy the different personalities and styles of people. That could be one of the motivations for being inclined toward this type of leadership. Teaching or mentoring is a very interpersonal type of leadership style. I get satisfaction from seeing and encouraging others and sharing information with them. In return, I learn a great deal from them as well. I also gain greater self-esteem when people tell me I am doing a good job or thank me for helping out. It is a real boost to the ego.
In a classroom setting, at parties and casually talking with friends, when playing sports and in meetings, I find myself listening to other people’s problems and feeling good about giving advice. I like helping set goals and objectives and delegating individuals to find areas that will interest them and let them add their expertise. I also love to ask leading questions and see what kind of responses I will get.
I like working with teams, as well. Even though I find myself gravitating toward the team leader role, it is great to know that everyone is pitching in to come up with an answer. The brainstorming and exchange of information is a real motivator.
Touching more lives, affecting the outcome of so many futures a teacher is the epitome of a leader. Just as a leader has his or her own style, their way of motivating their students, also plays an important part in a students success.

I may not be the best or the perfect teacher, but I believe that like my students, I am still learning the ways and means to be one. After all teaching isn’t at all about grammar, or literature or writing… its about learning what life is all about. Teaching taught me a lot of things, perhaps the most important of all is not just whatmost important of all is tople we share our lives with.ortant of all is that we learn not just in school alone but in our we learn in school alone but in our life’s experiences and through the people we share our lives with.

The King of the Gods and the Goddess of Love and the Moon

Last Monday I happened to see a spectacular sight (but failed to capture my own picture of it…grrrhh). My brother was the first one to gush over it and only realized what he was saying when I went out to check for it myself... The God king, the goddess of love and the Moon…forgive my inclination to mythology but more than a scientific phenomenon, it gives a creative challenge to those who can conjure mythical and fictional tales.
The image on the heavens was funnier than mystical. It was an image of a smiley… Iconic and ironic. At this time of clandestine worldwide depression, it was as if God wants to remind us that in these trying times, a grin on one’s face best soothes the pain of a burdened and weary heart.

Can't Help It...sorry

I know that there's this issue on piracy and stuff and they created iMeem to protect these songwriters and their right but hey, there's no other way i can get this song...been trying to work my charms asking people who might have a copy, but to no avail.I've been looking to mp3 websites but can't find it either (others are directing me to other senseless links!Grr).I downloaded an iMeem downloader and was quite successfu with it..hehe..Im just waiting fo my download to actually finish...and I promise to share the file should ever some one asks....wink! Really am sorry, but I needed to have this song for my wedding...
Won't you please just be my angel
High in the sky with our love for each other
Won't you please just be my angel
Heaven on earth whenever we are together, now

My LSS...Angel

Im currently listening to Angel by The Tux (of the 80's...yes!)over at iMeem...the song is so relaxing and the lyrics are all but sweet!
Please send me an mp3 of this for our first dance in our wedding!

I Heart This Song....

I know this was so long time ago…I heard it again in back track segment of a radio station and can’t believe that I still know some of the lines…Its Angel by The Tux!
I particularly love this line…
Let's get the most out of life just makin' each other grow
No promises made at all that this life will always glow
Just let me be what I truly am and I'll let you be yourself
There's so much that this world can give us
So much to see, it's there for you and me
If you have an mp3 of this song pls send me a copy....Pls?

We had our unity candle made by my friend (and co-teacher) Ms. Marj Arbiz. She's one very talented designer. In fact, I've been urging her (and her equally talented husband) to venture into events styling but she would always tell me that she might not be able to meet the demands. I asked her to do our wedding candles and gladly, she accepted it. I supplied the candles and she was the one who created the designs. I was really in awe when I saw the designs...they were very lovely indeed. The pillar candle was finished and the two smaller candles will follow.
Ms. Marj is now accepting made to order unity candles and other wedding related stuff. This is her contact info 0917-9033152. Her website will be coming soon. She also accepts made to order wedding chords, cellphone and bag charms and give aways.

Lazy Afternoons

My Colorgenics Profile...

You are constantly hoping that your good fellowship and attitude and your 'love for your fellow man (or women)' will give you peace of mind. You need people - people around you to care for you and to show you that they care. It is this hope that keeps you going, the hope that makes you the type of person that indeed you are. Your own need for approval seemingly makes you always ready to help others and in exchange you seek love, warmth and understanding. You will always listen to others and you are open to new ideas which hopefully will prove fruitful and interesting. You are working extremely hard trying to improve your image. You need for those people in positions that matter to recognise your potential and to acknowledge you.Everything seems to have gone wrong and the situation at this time is such that you are not quite sure which way to turn. So it would appear that you are 'holding back', re-consolidating your position and relinquishing all fun and games for the time being. As of late, you have been experiencing untold stress and this is a result of continuous frustration. You haven't been taking care of all your physical needs and it's beginning to show. It would seem that you have a need to find someone to whom you can really relate - someone perhaps whose standards are as high as your own. You want to be different - to be individualistic - to stand out from the common herd. Your inherent control of your sensual instincts is restricting your ability to give yourself to open up freely but this being on your own, being lonely, often makes you feel the need to give up some of your strict standards to surrender to the general flow - to be like everyone else; a part of the herd. Deep down you regard such instincts as weaknesses to be overcome. You would like to be loved or admired for yourself alone. You demand recognition and tender loving care.Being afraid that you may be prevented from achieving your hopes and dreams is making you anxious and nervous. As a dreamer your ideas can at times move into the realm of fantasy and you could be following that so called illusive dream.
